The first part of our dedicated Derbyshire website is now online. It is now time to start training for the hills of Derbyshire and a training ride has been put together to help members who haven’t ridden in Derbyshire before to get used to riding a route that has a hilly profile. There is a full route description as well as files to download to those of you with cycling computers, also included is a pdf turn by turn cue sheet to view. There are currently nine training ride dates with full details on the site. I would strongly advise that those who have signed up to come to Derbyshire, either participate in some of these training sessions or make sure your own personal training plan takes in good elevation. We had a great time last year but I must stress, all riders will require a good level of fitness, riding a bike in the Peak District requires respecting the terrain and conditions can change very quickly and should not be underestimated. Riders should expect to be able to complete a route with at least 3000ft of elevation over a distance of 40 miles.
