Held once again at the Mildenhall Cycling Rally Festival weekend saw over 100 competitors line up on a dry but windy morning on the grass track circuit to complete one and a half laps before leaving the school grounds for the out and back first run.

The main contenders quickly made their way to the fore, Jez Cox from Team Planet-x, Pactrac pairing of David Hutchinson and Sean Beard, Nathan Miller, Geoff Brewster and Roy Young. Into T1 it was Cox and Beard who had opened up a gap of 30 seconds over Hutchinson.
Out on the bike it was Cox applying the pressure again, gradually pulling away from the field and coming into t2 a minute ahead of Miller. The final run once again saw Cox consolidate his lead, taking the fastest split for the third time of the day. Roy Young getting stronger as the day wore on moved up to finish second with Nathan Miller third.

In the ladies race Ros Viner lead from the start with Charlotte East and Jackie Wren coming into t1 over one minute back. On the bike course East closed to within 30 seconds of the leader but a blistering second run by Viner saw her win by over two minutes.

NC&TC Club Race

NC&TC had a team of six members racing and they all ended up having their own battles with each other throughout the race. The first to put his marker down was Paul Mitchell who put down a fast first run to come out of T1 as the lead NC&TC member, second out of T1 was Neil Payne who put in a decent bike leg to pass Paul and lead him by just over a minute. A lead he was able to hang onto till the end. The second NC&TC race was between Mark Hatley and Gary Houghton with only 3 seconds between them at the finish. Gary put in by far the best NC&TC bike split by completing the 23km in 40:48. Lee Dickinson and Richard Marshall raced out the third NC&TC battle with Richard coming out on top by 32 seconds.

1. Neil Payne (19th overall) 1:18:42
2. Paul Mitchell (22nd overall) 1:19:35

A big thank must go to Steve, Dave and Nigel for organising and producing such a good and well run race. Also a big thank you to all the marshals and to Richard for the BBQ afterwards!
